Meet the Author

Dianne Richards

Dianne Richards here with something I am so excited to share with you. Most of my life I have enjoyed writing short stories and poems. Ever since fourth grade, I have enjoyed writing.  Mrs. Vining, my fourth grade teacher, put that love into me when she began reading poems to our class. Then she asked the class to write poems. I have never forgotten my first poem. Would you like to hear it?  It goes like this;

There once was an elephant named Pat.

Pat, the elephant was fat!

One day a circus came to town

and dressed poor, fat, Pat like a clown!”

I have been in children's ministries since I was 12 years old...helping other teachers, leading VBS and choirs, teaching in Awanas, RA's, and Sunday School/children's church, and more. I love to sing. I love making crafts that only take a day to finish...I love reading, board games, and word puzzles.  Mostly I love reading poetry.  Thank you Mrs. Vining.

I decided I wanted to share my love of poems just like Mrs. Vining did with my class. I've written so many poems over the years to give away I can't even count them.  I've given them as gifts to friends,  teachers, coaches, and ministers.  Then I thought, Why not write a poem highlighting one of my favorite people from the Bible?  So I did.  One of those people is Noah.  Do you know who he is?  I’m sure some of you do. I thought about the ark he built, the animals he saved, and the family he loved.  I began to write...I thought about the name for my book.  An idea popped into my head.  I took the first line of my very first poem and used that to build on...Remember what that line was?   I thought about the pictures I would put into my book…..but….then another idea popped into my head....I have a lot of "popping" going on in this head of mine. Why not let the readers of my book draw the pictures?  Let them be the illustrators.  What a great idea I had.  So as you flip thru my book you will see there are no pictures.  You will, however, find a lot of empty pages and prompt questions where you can draw what you are reading about....Now, Isn't that a cool idea?  Please enjoy my book, share with others, and I am looking forward to hearing what you think about it.

(I do have more books ready to be published; just waiting for the right time!)
